Hinxton VJ Day - 80th Anniversary of the end of WW2

From Cllr. Hugh Taylor
Villagers and members of the public are most welcome to attend any or all of these short events that day, gathering in the vicinity of the village flagpole near the gates into the churchyard . . .

9 am - raising of the VJ80 commemorative flag, accompanied by an excerpt from Prime Minister Attlee’s speech that day in 1945.
midday - the church bell will ‘toll’ to mark the years of war now finally over, and the impact on the village, accompanied by an excerpt from the King’s speech to parliament that day in 1945.
9 pm - at dusk, the flag will be lowered, accompanied by a ‘reflection’ of what WW2 meant to villages such as ours, and finally the Kohima Epitaph (from the ‘forgotten army’ in the Far East) will be read.
Hugh would be very grateful for any assistance re photography, flag raising/lowering and bell tolling.
